The Power of the People
— Government derives its legitimacy from public engagement.
— Government derives its legitimacy from public engagement.
Governments do not invent rights.
People are born with them.
The Constitution does not create liberty—
It protects it.
But protection only works
if the people remain engaged.
The Founders warned us:
Even the best-designed system can fail
if citizens grow passive, or forget they are sovereign.
That’s why the Constitution begins with:
“We the People.”
Not “We the Presidents.”
Not “We the Judges.”
Not “We the Government.”
It is the people who lend power—
And the people who can take it back.
Through protest.
Through speech.
Through the vote.
A just Constitution relies on just people.
Not perfect people—
But brave ones who demand better,
and hold their leaders accountable.
Democracy is not automatic.
It is a practice, not a promise.
And its future depends on us.
